We recognise the importance of Information Communications Technology in order to enhance and extend learning in all areas of the curriculum and believe it to be a vital tool for developing communication, research, word-processing and data-handling skills. As pupils gain in confidence, they are encouraged to research and present their work in a manner suited to their personal learning style.
We encourage all children to develop the confidence and skills to make informed choices about which IT tools are best suited to specific tasks.
The school has over 90 networked computers with several standalone laptops, all linked to printers and all with access to the internet (which is screened by Hertfordshire LEA). We also have interactive white boards in all areas of the school, video cameras, scanners, visualisers and digital cameras. Children are encouraged to contribute to our school website which can be found at www.roundwoodprimary.herts.sch.uk.
Pupils are provided with opportunities to use a range of software to encourage an understanding of economic well being including access to the school’s ‘smart metering’ site which measures our utilities consumption.
The school follows strict guidelines to help to ensure the safety of pupils whilst using the internet. Pupils understand and are aware of the requirement for such procedures.
