Welcome to Lower Key Stage 2
Our class teachers are Mrs Crisp(C3), Mrs Hayward-Surry (C3 /4) and Mrs Wakeman (C4).
We are taught in classes for all subjects except numeracy which is taught in sets.
Mrs Burch is our specialist music teacher, she teaches our class music lessons and Year 4 cello. For certain subjects, or for focused group-work, we might also be taught by Mrs Wallace.

In Lower Key Stage 2 homework is set every Friday and collected the following Friday. Homework alternates each week between ‘learning logs’ and Maths homework.
Spellings, Reading and Times Tables
In addition to homework, spellings are set weekly. Spellings are given out on a Monday, along with a spelling activity.
C3 – spellings are tested on Fridays and times tables for Mrs Crisps’ set are tested on Mondays.
C3/4 – spellings are tested on Fridays and times tables for Miss Barltrop’s set are tested on Fridays.
C4 – spellings are tested on Fridays and times tables for Mrs Wakeman’s set are tested on Mondays.
Children are expected to read at least five times a week and some of these reading sessions should take place with an adult; engaging in discussion about texts is important. We ask parents to record how often their child is reading by writing a comment about our reading and by signing our Reading Records. Each book read earns a Reading Challenge point which should be recorded at the back of our Reading Records.
Children are also expected to learn their times tables. By the end of year Three, the children should know their 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and 8 times tables and related division facts.
By the end of year Four, all children should have quick recall of all times tables and the related division facts in a random order.
