Yesterday I took a team of Year 5 and 6 children to the Harpenden School Sport Association’s Cross Country Tournament. The afternoon started bright and sunny and the children were excited to be representing the school. The weather took a turn for the worse and yet the rain didn’t dampen the children’s spirits.
14 schools from Harpenden had sent teams and there were approximately 65 runners in each race. The children all tried incredibly hard and ran quickly over the 1500m course.
The fastest 3 children from each school created a team score and although we didn’t come first, second or third, I was delighted that all of our children finished highly in the over all results.
Well done to George who came 4th and Abi who came 10th. Amazing results when there were so many children running in each race.
I am delighted that the children have shown such commitment in their training. They have all dedicated at least 2 lunchtimes a week for the last 6 weeks and this practise has definitely paid off.
Well done to each and every child.
