We encourage all children to complete home learning through Active Reading activities or Maths home learning in addition to daily reading and weekly spelling activities.
As your child gets older, the amount of home learning may increase, but we expect it to always match each child’s abilities. As broad guidelines, pupils should spend between 30-45 minutes on their weekly homework in KS1 and between 45-60 minutes on their homework in KS2. This is in addition to reading and spelling homework.
Try to set aside some regular time to support your child with their home learning to encourage them to build good working habits that will serve them well throughout the school. Ideally your child should be able to work at the table away from distractions such as the television.
Useful websites can be found in the Fun Zone section of the school website to support your child’s learning at home.
